Hi Mike:
For Columbia County:
columbiacountyga.gov click on "Maps Online", click "ok" on the disclaimer, then click on "parcel search" put a property address in the search box, when the property info is returned, take the assessed dollar value and multiply that 1.1%. This will give you what the property tax is for that year. Keep in mind, that percentage changes as the mil rate changes. You wouldn't read this thread a year after it was written and expect pin point accuracy using that formula.
In Richmond County:
Property tax amounts are computed for you on the tax site. Using Internet Explorer, go to augustaga.gov, then click on "online maps", then "current online maps", click "ok" on a couple of disclaimers (after you read them of course), then click on "parcel search", type in the property address, when it is returned, click on "view tax bills" If you approximate, as of the 2009 tax year, you would take the tax assessed value and multiply that times 1.59%. As you can see, taxes are higher in Richmond County than Columbia County. As Columbia County sees more and more growth, so will the tax rate rise as well.
Hope that helps.
